SCAA: Bixler has Bell City trending in upward direction (1/24/24)BLOOMFIELD – If you sat and watched Bell City’s varsity boy’s basketball game on Tuesday against Woodland, you probably left the historic Bloomfield High School gym, which is where this week’s Stoddard County Athletic Association Tournament is being held, having missed the forests for the trees as you assessed the Cubs. Yes, second-year coach Luke Bixler’s team lost 105-55 to the Class 3 No. 14-ranked Cardinals, who improved to 11-4 on the season. However, that one defeat wasn’t indicative of how this program is trending.

BCS GBB Tournament: Woodland dominates (again) en route to third title (1/13/24)PATTON – Each varsity boy’s basketball season, the team at Woodland High School hosts the Woodland Invitational Tournament early in its season. The Cardinals’ girl’s program is seemingly doing something similar in mid-season, but it goes by the name of the Bollinger Cape Scott Conference Tournament, as Woodland has absolutely dominated this event since its inception three years ago.

2023 Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament: Braves beat Cubs to win consolation title (12/30/23)Scott County Central entered the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament with a winning record and left with the consolation championship for the first time since 2018. The Braves earned their elusive prize with a 66-52 win over Bell City on Saturday, Dec. 30 at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. Namarius Banks-Warren put the team on his back by scoring 31 points. The senior has had high scoring nights before but this was the first time this season he scored over 30 points in a game...
