High School Volleyball Forum: District & Sectional Volleyball Scores

Posted by drawmules on Mon, Oct 26, 2009, at 2:58 PM:

Throughout the week, I will be posting live updates for district and sectional volleyball games. I would love to see volleyball fans throughout Southeast Missouri provide updates from their district. Here are the locations I plan on traveling to this week.

Monday:

I have a meeting in Cape Girardeau at 5 p.m. Nevertheless, I plan on being in Bernie by 7:30 p.m. to provide live updates for the semi-final games in Class 1 District 2.

Tuesday:

I plan on watching the championship game of Class 1 District 2 in Bernie at 6 p.m. I then plan on driving to Dexter to watch the championship game of Class 3 District 1 at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday:

I will be in Bell City watching the Class 1 sectionals at 3 p.m.

  • Farminmarsh and I will be at the Class 1 District 3 Tournament in Advance as well as the Class 1 Sectionals at Bell City! I'll try to post the scores from my phone after each game but not so sure how that will go.

  • Thanks for the scores and updates, Rachel. Does anyone have the scores and results from Class 1 District 1 (the Bootheel District, if you will)?

Drawmules, do you have or remember the scores to the previous games in Class 1 District 2 (Campbell v. Richland, Bernie v. Clarkton, Oran v. Risco)? I'd like to see those scores as well.

  • I know that Gideon beat Cooter. No idea on how many sets or the score.

    -- Posted by badams2s on Mon, Oct 26, 2009, at 10:58 PM
  • I don't have any Class 1, District 1 scores as of yet, but I haven't heard from all of my sources, if you will. (More like co-workers in this case...)

Whatever scores I don't get in tonight, I'll call the host ADs early tomorrow.

Thanks for the Cooter result, Mr. Adams.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Mon, Oct 26, 2009, at 11:11 PM
  • Given this information, if we look at the brackets we can deduce that Cooter defeated North Pemiscot County and Gideon defeated Delta-Deering in the first round. Badams2s, did you hear who won between Southland and Holcomb, and then how did South Pemiscot County do?

-- Posted by Kitty Purry on Mon, Oct 26, 2009, at 11:15 PM
  • Holcomb beat southland , no idea the score, S.Pem beat Holcomb 2 sets. Gideon beat cooter in 2 sets, don't remember the score, the first game was back and forth point by point, second set Gideon pulled ahead early in the game and Cooter tried to catch up, but never made it, Score was something like 25 to 15-18, They were really good games. Look forward to watching S. Pem and Gideon tonight.

Not trying to compete with drawmules' reports, but I'm excited to see what happens. :)

  • It would be great to here the results for Class 1 District 4 before we go to bed tonight. The favorites to play in the championship game are Bismarck and Lesterville. The championship game begins at 7 p.m. I hope to see the results for this game posted tonight. It might be the closest game of the night. I also look forward to hearing the results from Bloomfield. However, I am confident I will not have a problem obtaining results from Bloomfield. I do not have a source to obtain information about Class 1 District 4 at Valley.

Lesterville defeated Bismarck in two sets

Another update, Winona defeated Eminence tonight to win their district.

  • Lesterville defeated Bismarck 25-13, 25-20 in Class 1 District 4.

-- Posted by Kitty Purry on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:14 PM
  • Wow. Winona beat Eminence? That's pretty impressive seeing as how Winona was seeded third in their district and went on to defeat the best team in the state in Class 1. Good job Winona! Do we have scores from all of these games, and how about Class 1 District 1 results (South Pemiscot County v. Gideon)? How badly did Scott City beat Bloomfield?

-- Posted by Kitty Purry on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:31 PM
  • This just in St. Vincent upset St. Pius to win Class 2, District 4.

    Scott City scores:

  • The Winona-Eminence match went 3 sets. Winona won set 3 25-20.

    -- Posted by atm7819 on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:38 PM
  • Eminence goes down. I didn't see that coming, I can't imagine how dissapointed they are.

    -- Posted by badams2s on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:40 PM
  • "Eminence is very talented. I really like their chances in the state tournament. Keep an eye on what Eminence does in their district when they play Winona. Winona has one of the top coaches in the state. But they have their work cut out for them this season. The district will be held at Winona, however."

When I wrote this a few weeks ago I never really thought Winona would upset Eminence. I just wanted to give Winona's coach the credit she deserved. Eminence was my pick to win it all. Now everything changes. Class 1 just got really interesting.

-- Posted by drawmules on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:43 PM
  • Eminence almost lost to Bunker in the early game. It went three sets with Eminence winning the third set 26-24. What an upset that would have been!

    -- Posted by atm7819 on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:45 PM
  • Lesterville defeated Bismark 25-13; 25-20.

-- Posted by drawmules on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:50 PM
  • What about South Pem & Gideon???

-- Posted by drawmules on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 9:53 PM
  • I read on another forum where Bunker defeated Lesterville; is that true, atm7819? I agree, that would have been a horrible upset for Eminence. Was Eminence just having a bad night or were the other teams playing their best games? So now we have all the results in except from Class 1 District 1. My original pick was for Gideon to win this district but changed my prediction after consulting with drawmules.

-- Posted by Kitty Purry on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 10:01 PM

Bunker is not in Lesterville's district. Therefore, Bunker could not play Lesterville.

-- Posted by drawmules on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 10:10 PM
  • Yes, Bunker defeated Lesterville earlier in the season. Lesterville defeated Bunker in the Black River League Conference championship game. Bunker has some talent. When they have played together as a team and cut down on their mistakes, they have looked impressive. I think they played very well tonight, but Eminence was just too good. All I know about the Eminence-Winona game is the score. I wonder how much the Bunker game took out of Eminence?

    -- Posted by atm7819 on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 10:15 PM
  • Thanks, baller. So here's the schedule for Class 1 Sectionals this Saturday at Bell City:

    *3 p.m. - Leopold v. Lesterville

    *4:30 p.m. - South Pemiscot County v. Bell City

    *6 p.m. - Championship Match

Class 2 Sectionals also take place this Saturday at Clearwater High School in Piedmont:

*3 p.m. - District 3 Winner (possibly Liberty of Mountain View or Cabool) v. St. Vincent

    *4:30 p.m. - Senath-Hornersville v. Scott City

    *6 p.m. - Championship Match

Not sure of the results of Classes 3 and 4, but Class 3 Sectionals are at DeSoto and Class 4 Sectionals are at Kirkwood.

I wonder how any Class 1 team beat Eminence. Has a flu epidemic hit Eminence? Do they have injuries?

I know the history with Winona's program. But after watching Eminence come within two points of the state championship last season, I felt like they were untouchable this year in Class 1. I think the close game against Bunker could have impacted the game against Winona. Wow! Wow! Wow!

-- Posted by drawmules on Tue, Oct 27, 2009, at 11:05 PM

-- Posted by semovolleyball on Thu, Oct 29, 2009, at 10:54 AM
  • Leopold Kirsten Thele did not break her hand. It was a sprained thumb. She'll play on Saturday.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Thu, Oct 29, 2009, at 3:08 PM
  • An injury to Kirsten Thele could be significant. How bad is the injury? Will the injury impact her ability to hit?

-- Posted by drawmules on Thu, Oct 29, 2009, at 3:30 PM
  • The Southeast Missourian will have more on this for us, but at this point I don't think it is significant.

No word on who the fourth team is that is headed to state in Class 2. Does anyone know who won the Class 2 sectional at Lexington? the sectional featured Lee's Summit Community Christian, Maryville, California and Lafayette County.

    Any thoughts on Scott City?
