Playoffs!!!! (Jim Mora voice). Well the playoffs are upon us ladies and gentlemen. It's win or go to the basketball court time now. The appeals have been filed, some have been granted, and games are getting ready to take place thursday. Last weeks picking featured several tough games to pick. We all messed it up pretty good haha! I don't see this week being quite as tough, but it is just the first round of the playoffs haha. On the other hand, who knows, playoff football is always exciting! So here is this weeks set of games:

Charleston vs. Scott City (2 points)

Dexter vs. Potosi (3 points)

NMCC vs. Fredericktown (2 points)

Poplar Bluff vs. Seckman (1 point)

Cape vs. Farmington (3 points)

Chaffee vs. Hayti (2 points)

East Prairie vs. Malden (1 point)

North County vs. Sikeston (2 points)

Caruthersville vs. Grandview (1 point)

Game Of The Week: (Please pick winner and final score)

St. Vincent vs. Portageville (5 points)

Other than the Cape and Jackson games, this is the only other game I've picked against them lol.

  • Ok your still on my good list then. I knew Jackson was going to beat us, wasn't sure about Cape. Was pretty sure we might lose last week. I know nothing about North County but I do know our coach is changing some things this week.

What is stopping me from picking Sikeston is their offense, or lack there of. They have a good defense but can't score very much, esp against the better teams.

The Sikeston - North County game is very interesting to me. I don't know a lot about NC nor have I heard much about them throughout the year. North County has some good wins and some questionable losses. I also still think St. Vincent may give Portageville a better game than people are giving them credit for, but who knows haha!

  • I had to block RC Strand. First year we played East Priarie. We thought because they were such a small school it would be a cake walk. They had Paris Tipler and MC Williams was a freshman. RC handed me my head at the end of the game.

  • What year would that have been?

-- Posted by CatDad on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 8:45 AM
  • 06. Actually Tipler was hurt that year and MC was a sophomore I believe. Second year we played them because I remember Tipler running against us at home.

  • Bunk I really like you, don't know who you are but I do. Only because I think you always pick Sikeston. Just like I do. No matter what I'm going to pick my team even if I know deep down I'm still picking them. Ex Jackson. Call me a homey or whatever just won't pick against them.

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 9:36 AM

Yeah I'm a homer to a degree. I'd like to think that I'm objective about our chances but I really did think we could possibly hang with Jackson but then I sat down with a few Sikeston OL and they showed me some film of Jackson DL and told me what their gameplan was and I knew we were likely gonna struggle ( I didn't see 49-0 though). That sounds like I'm being critical of OL or coaches but it's not. They were just bigger than our guys and we like spread folks out and run up the gut. But I won't recant my picks ever.

Long story short I'm Sikeston homer but mostly because in basketball and football they have the talent and the coaches to hang with best teams in the area.

-- Posted by Bunk on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 9:43 AM
  • I thought we would do better than we did also in Jackson. I know nothing about North County. We need our track stars back for offense. Lol!! The only one I was surprised we lost to was Cape, nothing against Cape, just thought we could. I'm learning football still so next year maybe I will get it better.

-- Posted by buyer beware on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 1:14 PM

Yeah! They'll have to play Valle in the district semi's if they get past StV.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 1:19 PM
  • Portageville is peaking at the right time. They should have no problem with St.Vincent.

-- Posted by butkus on Wed, Oct 30, 2013, at 2:12 PM
  • SV has some talent and speed but big physical oline and dlines wear them out during the second half. Does Portageville have that asset.
