Tournament starts Mon. Nov 30, at 5 pm.

  • It doesn't matter but I'm surprised that Malden was seeded ahead of Advance. 2-3 really makes no difference in this case.

    Also a bit surprised that Oran is seeded ahead of Bell City. But all you could do is flip them so it really doesn't mean anything.

    Didn't Malden beat Advance in this tournament last year? I am really not sure if they were on the same of the bracket or not, but I do remember watching Malden lose a very close game in the championship game to Class 2 reigning state champs, SCC. That may have something to do with them being ranked 2.

  • They might have. But I don't think that plays into the seeding. The more I think about it the more I remember that Malden returns almost everybody. I believe Malden is the most talented team in the tournament.

    Advance only lost one kid as well off of last years team that finished 3rd in Class 1. But I think Malden has more horses.

    SCC has Jeff. I know the SCC faithful are going to take offense to this because of their tradition. But if SCC can't find some help for Jeff, they are going to struggle some this year. They simply(for the first time in a very long time) don't have the horses like they're used to having. However, if you don't contain Porter, they can still beat a lot of teams.

  • At least this tourney will hold more excitement this year as its no longer a forgone conclusion that SCC will win it as they have for umpteen years now.

  • This tournament as a whole has been down for quite a few years. The Woodland tournament has been better lately.

  • Malden returning so many players and a GOOD coach and being physical with speed and their D will be tough. Advance GREAT coach (Bubba) and pressing D plus returning players and Preston's outside shooting makes them a very good team. Oran VERY Good coaching plus they have been together for so long and pressing D at the right time makes them good . SCC coaching (Kline) (SUSPECT) to much yelling and Jeffery needs more help he only has two more players Gerald and Wesley bench is week. Richland will be better they have a VERY good coach (Dom) they will press they just need some more help. Chaffee needs more experience GOOD coaching can only do so much future is looking up. Bell City Coach (CJ) VERY GOOD will have them ready Logan is young but very good a good press and outside shooting good team. And Kelly well the SOFT scheduling and coaching is (SUSPECT)not pressing and living by the three pointer will be their demise. Rankings 1 Malden 2 Advance (TOSS UP) 3 Oran 4 SCC 5 Bell City 6 Kelly 7 Richland (TOSS UP) 8 Chaffee.

  • Exactly OLDCAT! That's exactly what I was thinking. So soon some people forget. Without the help from the SCC kids, what a different period that would have been for the bullldogs. No championship and a lot fewer wins in those dominant years they have bragged about so much.

    Malden didn't run any offense. They jacked up a shot on one pass every time!

    Advance ran great offense, and played as a team!

  • Maldens lack of defense really hurt them. They also didn't seem to be very disciplined on offense. With several players playing football up until last Friday I'm sure it hurt them not practicing much. Oran played very well but just fell short the last few minutes. Wouldn't surprise me if they win tonight's matchup with Malden.
