High School Basketball Forum: Bloomfield Wildcats 50th Anniversary

Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Mon, Feb 2, 2015, at 2:56 PM:

Friday Feb. 6th at Bloomfield High School the Bloomfield Wildcats will be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 1964-65 and 1965-66 Boys Basketball Teams that made it to the State Tournament in Columbia. Those 2 teams hold a lot of significance as they are the only 2 teams in the history of Bloomfield Basketball to reach the final four, finishing 3rd and 4th respectively. This will be a celebration of not only Bloomfield Basketball, but Southeast Missouri Basketball as well! It was a different time for basketball back then as most smaller communities were engulfed with high school basketball, and it was THE main attraction to see! We invite everyone out to celebrate these great teams that were coached by Tom Hewgley and Charlie Spoonhour (yes that Spoonhour). There will be a presentation, video footage, a large scrapbook, and also one of Coach Spoonhours sons will be in attendance as his team will be taking on the SEMO Redhawks the next day. It will be a great evening for basketball! See you there!
