  • Tooldogging.. That isn't a good score if Clearwater was expecting to roll through districts.

-- Posted by Thot McGee on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 3:52 PM
  • Sportsnerd, I don't know anyone said Clearwater would roll thru districts, but a 22-point win is pretty good. How many should they have won by?

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 4:00 PM
  • The Twin Rivers varsity girls defeated Caruthersville 117-30.

  • I've got some conflicting final score reports, but the results are the same.

Officially it looks like the Chaffee boys beat Meadow Heights 75-46 and the Clearwater boys beat Woodland 73-48.

  • Sportsnerd,

First of all, I never said that C'water would "roll" through their district. Second, the last time I looked, a 22 point win is a pretty dominant and convincing win. I'm not going to stoop to putting down or criticizing other teams performances, good or bad. I wish everyone the best of luck!

  • Score to to C'water and Woodland game actually 73-48, a 25 point win sportsnerd! Maybe it needed to be like a 50+ point win to make sportsnerd feel like C'water deserved the win huh?!

-- Posted by tooldogging on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 5:18 PM
  • That is the C'water score Rachel has in her updated bracket.

  • Your totally missing my point. a 25 point win is impressive.. but mediocre area teams have been beating them 80 to 30.. just thought clearwater would have won by more.. 25 is a lot.. i just expected running clock

  • 50 points...!?!? Now that is an impressive feat.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 5:56 PM
  • I cannot believe that many mediocre teams have beaten Woodland by 50 points. They have had a bad year, but aren't that bad. Fifty ppoints is a lot to win by. I did not see the game, but I'm willing to bet that the C'water's subs played most of the fourth and they still won by 25. A 25 point win constitutes a blow-out to me.

-- Posted by tooldogging on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 5:56 PM
  • *

No fifty point losses for Woodland but they did take 37 point loss to Leopold, 43 point loss to Bernie, 47 point loss to Oran, 35 point loss to SCC, 41 point loss to Dexter, 39 point loss to Jackson, and 42 point loss to Advance so it does shock me a little that Clearwater didn't reach the turbo clock against them.

  • So tell me sportsnerd, which of those teams sre mediocre? Dexter and Jackson are large schools and the other one's you mentioned are the top class 1 and 2 schools. Anyway, Preach is right as long as you win, who cares.

-- Posted by tooldogging on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:34 PM
  • Just for the record, being a Class 4 school doesn't have much bearing on whether you're good or not.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:35 PM
  • C3D2 boys: St. Pius ends Saxony Lutheran's season with a 59-54 win.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:36 PM
  • Would not be such a deal, but no one on Semoball seems to think that C'water is any good despite their record.

    Rachel, No ma'am.

-- Posted by Larry Doby on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:43 PM
  • All right, Larry. Thanks.

Zero coaches who played games there today have called in or emailed there scores, so I was taking a shot in the dark. I guess maybe the coaches think the school will call us, but I doubt it will. Might call the office there and see if someone will pick up.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:50 PM
  • Sad to see the Woodland girls have such an early exit in the post season after a hallmark year for them. Class 3 District 2 is absolutely loaded this year!! Top six seeds are AT LEAST 10 games over .500 with Clearwater coming in as the # 6 seed with a 17-7 record. Yikes!

    -- Posted by sikte513 on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 6:53 PM
  • tool, they always have a good record in baseball and basketball but they shrink come playof time most of the year, that's the perception.. I'm just surprised they didn't turbo clock them. that is all

Dustin I watched the Naylor and Gideon game last night. Naylor won by 2. I think Gideon will pull of the upset. What is your take on the Gideon - Naylor game!?

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 9:01 PM
  • Scott City 69 Arcadia Valley 62.

-- Posted by UFO on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 9:48 PM
  • Ok, I see SC beat AV by 7. Now, sportsnerd and the folks who doubt C'water can hang with the "Semoball" teams, C'water beat AV by 30 earlier this year(60-30), should SC have rolled AV by 20+ according to your criteria? Western schools play weak schedules, right? I am not saying anything against the SC Rams and glad they won, just the folks who doubted C'water's record and ability.

-- Posted by tooldogging on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 10:03 PM
  • Considering Charleston or NMCC will be waiting for the winner of District 2, I feel like it's kind of a moot point.

  • Buck Major

I think Gideon is one of the most dangerous No. 6 seeds I've seen in Class 1, District 1, in recent years. It will be interesting to see what happens.

-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 10:14 PM
  • An additional thought. I am not surprised Caruthersville advanced to the semifinals as a No. 5 seed in Class 3, District 1. No idea why Caruthersville was not seeded No. 3 in that tournament.

-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 10:15 PM
  • *

I agree Dustin. They played a pretty tough schedule. Wouldn't have mattered to much though, because NMCC would have been waiting for them if they were the 3 seed.

I am not saying who is good and who is bad but i watched scott city for the first time tonight and they had a nice comeback. But they were down 18 at one time to a team i watched clearwater and south iron turbo clock!

  • Clearwater is a clear favorite against Scott City.

-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Sat, Feb 16, 2013, at 11:35 PM
  • Awesome job to the Cville Tiger Boys. I thought you showed a lot of heart tonight. You made it to the same game as you did last year. Unfortunely, it's against the same team - Charleston. It's going be tough to beat them. One thing for sure - it won't be from a lack of effort. Hats off to the boys for hanging in there after losing Monroe and Gooden for the season. Good Luck.

  • Thank Goodness SC woke up against Arcadia Valley!

    Nice game Arcadia!

Do to this close game and the fact that Clearwater won decisive victories over Arcadia Valley twice, I am altering my SC vs Clearwater prediction.

Old Prediction: SC over Clearwater by 11

New Prediction: SC over Clearwater by 5

-- Posted by UFO on Sun, Feb 17, 2013, at 7:29 AM
  • Clearwater by 12 or better sorry that just the way it is. IMO .

-- Posted by dickie v on Sun, Feb 17, 2013, at 9:56 AM
  • Clearwater vs SC tonight.

I predict: The team with the most moxy wins.

Win or Lose. There should be no excuses from either team. The site is neutral, the refs should also be.

SC has lost several solid players this year, mid season. We've also played really good and really bad at times.

With that being said, we are proud of every player on our team and support your dedication and resilience.

    Go Rams!
