can anyone post a bracket for the scott ms conf tourn starting n chaffee monday

  • SC and Chaffee should be a decent game, being at Chaffee.

SCC and SC has the potential to be a Nail Biter. Both teams are fast paced, have good guard play and strong defense.

  • Put my money on Scott city based on what I saw at xmas tourney. Didnt like the way scc set their offence having Dom Porter in the corner so much in their set offence

-- Posted by objective fan on Sun, Jan 15, 2012, at 11:34 PM
  • A lot of people are overlooking the Oran and Chaffee game if the bracket pans out like it should, which should be a good one. Oran has to get past Delta first though. I'm taking SCC over SC by at least 10 in the championship.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Mon, Jan 16, 2012, at 12:07 AM
  • SCC by 10+ in the finals is my guess too.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Mon, Jan 16, 2012, at 1:08 AM
  • I'll take SCC over SC but it should be a good game, SCC by 10. I saw SC at the Christmas tourney and they did a great job against teams that relied on having an inside presence as a big part of their game. I think SCC, since they are short don't have to rely on an inside presence. I think the SCC speed will win out. But again, it should be a good game.

I've only seen SCC play twice, against Cape Central in the Christmas Tourney and against Charleston. After watching them against Cape Central, I thought C'ton would beat them easily; they played much better against C'ton than they did against Central; so, I'd take SCC over SC but the margin will just depend on which game they bring with them that night.

  • Anyone know the JV scores and schedule?

-- Posted by igobybob on Tue, Jan 17, 2012, at 6:11 AM
  • Scott County Central is the obvious favorite. Oran and Chaffee are very Scrappy. Scott City has the best team they've had in years.

    Chaffee over Oran for Third.

Scott City stuns Scott County Central for Championship.

  • Where is this tournament played?

    -- Posted by Rocket689 on Tue, Jan 17, 2012, at 1:56 PM
  • Judging by how Chaffee played on Monday, Crowe will have to play his best game of the year for the upset, chipping in at least 30. They sure won't beat SC down low. Also, the pep club will need a lot more loogies in their arsenal.

-- Posted by Thot McGee on Tue, Jan 17, 2012, at 6:13 PM
  • 'Nerd i'd say having another significant scorer besides Crowe is the main weakness IMO.

  • Ronnie,

Did Robert play last night? I didn't see his name in the boxscore.

-- Posted by indiantribe on Tue, Jan 17, 2012, at 6:55 PM
  • Chaffee has several good players.

The Yahn kid is good underneath. Davies and Dannemueller are pretty scrappy players. I believe they have two Montgomery's on the team that are looking pretty good.

Crowe is a very dangerous Shooter.

-- Posted by UFO on Tue, Jan 17, 2012, at 7:53 PM
  • Ronnie 1962: I've seen Crystal City play three times this year. They are quick and have one excellent shooter. They are 12-3 with the 3 losses coming to Perryville in a hard fought 4 point game; a fairly close loss to Farmington; and a 20 point loss to Imagine. I haven't seen Scott City but it sounds like they are pretty good. Probably would be a great game.

  • I almost protested a refund after having to hear Chaffee's PA announcer for four quarters. Wow. Props to them though for playing some music during the games now. I'd just stick with that for now.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Wed, Jan 18, 2012, at 4:19 PM
  • Please don't charge if Nil Diamond and an annoying announcer are part of the ticket!

  • Oran 56, East Prairie 44 in the first game of the night. Oran will move on to play the winner of the next game between SCC and Chaffee tomrorrow at 7 for the championship.

Chaffee has scored 27 points in the last 32 minutes of basketball.

-- Posted by Larry Doby on Thu, Jan 19, 2012, at 8:59 PM
  • Scott City leads Chaffee 27-17 at halftime.

I just overheard an adult Chaffee fan say "I still hate Scott City" in a very mild, matter-of-fact tone, which I think sums up this rivalry and the crowd attitude tonight very well.

SC's Zach Cotner got his third foul with two minutes left on the half.

  • Scott County vs Scott City Game Should be a Nail Biter.

Scott County is Fast. Scott City has the Size Advantage.

I believe Chaffee will take down Oran for Third.

Both Games should be a Pleasure to Watch!

Im going with SC over SCC

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Jan 19, 2012, at 11:10 PM
  • I'm taking Scott County over Scott City by 10+. SCC didn't play their best game tonight and I look for them to come out fired up tomrorrow, hitting all on cylinders.

In the third place game, I'm taking Oran over Chaffee by a small margin. Oran has been playing very well since they blew a win against Chaffee in the Christmas Tourny. They're 4-1 since then winning each game by a good margin against fair teams for the most part with a 12 point loss to SCC.

As for the J.V. side, in the championship, I'm thinking Oran will defeat Chaffee by double digits. Schlosser, Priggel, and Tenkhoff will be too much for Chaffee to handle.

    For third, SCC over E.P.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Thu, Jan 19, 2012, at 11:17 PM
  • I'll take Scott city, Oran, Oran and SCC

-- Posted by Thot McGee on Thu, Jan 19, 2012, at 11:25 PM

Most of us have not seen Risco. We hear that they're very competitive. Have they played Scott County Central?

Who have they beat? Where is Risco?

Very good game. Went back and fourth most of the game. Scott County had an excellent 3rd quarter.

  • Good/Great Teams find ways to win close games against other good teams.

Average/Decent teams play well against but never quite are able to pull it out against other good teams.

Not saying Scott City isn't capable they just aren't there yet

And, until SC pulls off a big win, I guess they'll continue to be the most underrated team in SEMO (according to Ronnie)

-- Posted by birdfan on Sun, Jan 22, 2012, at 8:33 PM
  • Guess I still don't understand how SC is "the most underrated team in SEMO" They haven't beat anybody they weren't suppose to and they haven't lost to anybody they weren't suppose to. They are pretty much where they are suppose to be, a decent class 3 basketball team, unless i have missed something?

-- Posted by Dr. Basketball on Sun, Jan 22, 2012, at 9:39 PM
  • No motive, just disagree with your assessment of SC. If they were a good team, i think they would have pulled out a couple of those games that they lost to better teams. And last time i checked, "stacking up" against good teams is not the same as beating good teams.

As it stands, I believe they are a decent team, will probably win their district because of overall strength of their district, but are probably the 5 or 6 best class 3 team in SEMO, but like I said that's just my opinion.

Don't be deceived by Carbondale's 2-13 record; they play a brutal schedule. They placed 3rd in the Superman Classic and played Charleston tough in the semifinals. Based on watching them play, I'd say they're comparable to Jackson in our area; they have a couple of big kids who are starters and one of them is a good ball player, the other will be as he's only a freshman. They also have some quickness at the guard spots, one of which gave Ryan Parham fits..and, that kid is only a freshman. Carbondale should be good for the next few years, especially if their 7' freshman from Brazil pans out.
