Can someone direct me to some boys and girls basketball rankings, whether statewide or a Semoball ranking?
I know that MaxPreps does their or whatever, but what about MSHSAA? Isn't that who used to put the rankings out?

I got these off Mosports.com on the front page. If they are not still there, then you can go to the Boys Basketball message board and can find them there.
I assume the MBCA has a website, but i am not familar with it and cannot confirm an website address.

scott1130..I think you said a mouthfull. I believe some of the teams are there because of past laurels. Dennis Green, when he was the Vikings Head Coach said "you are what your record says you are". Of course, he can make that statement because of parity in the NFL. I do believe we need to take both win/loss record and strength of schedule into consideration but let's leave "traditionally strong" out of the equation.

Here is Maxpreps records for each team and state rankings. It doesn't appear they have played any top 100 teams, except Gosnell, whos is ranked 99 in Arkansas:

Risco doesn't have any top 100 maxprep teams on their schedule . The only class 1 or 2 schools ranked higher on maxpreps than Risco is SCC who does not play Risco during the regular season . They do play Leopold on their next regular season game . Then the next best team they will play will be Meridian , Ill who lost by around 10 or so to Charleston .

Regardless of the types of teams a computer system says Risco schedules they should be ranked No. 1 in the state in every Class 1 state poll.

@dustin to be the number 1 team you have to beat the number 1 team....and as i see it scc is still the defending state champs remember to be the man you have to beat the man and it hasnt happen yet..dont get me wrong it could happen but as of now it hasnt so scc deserves the number 1 spot

Yeah, Dustin. SCC can't be that penalized for playing teams that would beat any Class 1 team in the state and the polls reflect that. Risco is very good and I think may beat SCC but the Braves haven't lost to a Missouri team since the 09-10 season. They are #1 till otherwise.

Buck I have no idea ! Meridian beat them pretty bad last year and played Charleston well ! I hope Risco can beat them but I definitely think I will be a great game . I haven't seen SCC play bit I think SCC should be number 1 for now .

Just remember there were several undefeated teams in the class 1 state tourny last year. None of them were ever ranked number one and I think the results says why.

SCC's couple losses have come to major nationally ranked teams. That's why they remain #1. Also if you have more state titles than another team in the state the pollsters give you the benefit of the doubt. With that said I think Risco is the best team in Class 1 at the moment.

Last year SCC was hands down far and away the best team in class 1 and may be very well the best team this year but they will be challenged this year !

I doubt if Risco has ever been ranked 1st in state, it would mean a lot to their fans to see that number 1. As an SCC fan I would trade the ranking for more consistant play for 4 quarters. After SCC and Risco both play Leopold the rankings will sort themselfs out.

Never had a number 1 ranking . As far as I know never even in top 5 ! I would trade not being ranked at all for our first state title ! Not gonna be an easy road but should be fun season !

Risco didn't play Meridian last year. They played Egyptian at Meridian.
I also believe Risco is the best class 1 team but as someone else said things should sort themselves out after each team plays Leopold. I bet the Leopold SCC game is going to be a great game!

Ahhh thanks for clearing that up . I knew they played at Meridian and got beat pretty badly but thought it was Meridian . I think the Oak Ridge/Leopold game might be a good game ! Could see Oak Ridge vs SCC in the second rd Tuesday !

Well Risco fans, I'm not sure what you will have to do to Leopold to get the number 1 ranking. SCC did not shoot that great but still had them turbo clocked by the 4th quarter. I think SCC's Christmas tourament is a little tougher than the one Risco won. If SCC loses now in the tourament I do not think it will hurt the class 1 ranking.

I agree that no matter what happens to SCC the rest of this tournament they will remain #1 . I agree no matter what Risco does to Leopold , SCC will remain #1 . I agree that the Cape Christmas Tournament is WAY tougher than the Clarkton Christmas Tournament but I have to say that neither team SCC has played this week would beat Gosnell , Ark . SCC is a very good team and should remain number 1 until some proves they're not ! Don't think most real Risco fans care about that #1 ranking .

Risco should not overlook Leopold because of what SCC did to them. Don't forget Leopold beat Scott City and Scott City gave Charleston all they could handle. I know Leopold did not look very good Tuesday they could be the best team Risco will play so far.

Every year some 1a team goes into State undefeated and thinking they should be ranked # 1.
Thing is. Scott County plays Missouri and Tennessee Powerhouse schools with enrollments over 1,000 students. They usually win, however, a loss is no big deal, because they will never see those schools again in State. Their Goal is to Learn and Get better Period.
Leopold is a good team with a premier Player, Stroder. Scott County nearly Turbo Clocked them.
I'm sure Risco has a solid team, however, let's be honest, I can not remember when a class 1 or class 2 team came within 20 points of Scott County Central.
They are the Returning State Champs and deserve the # 1 ranking.

I can't think that Risco would overlook Leopold at all . Leopold is a very good team and I don't imagine Tuesday night was their best game . Risco hasn't played in a couple of weeks and won't play until the 6th when they play Leopold . With that big of a layoff they better not overlook anyone ! As for SCC I don't think anyone is saying they don't deserve a number 1 ranking at least I'm not . But I don't think they are nearly as dominate this year and after watching them I definitely think they are good but very capable of being beaten by other class 1 teams not just Risco .
