High School Basketball Forum: Sikeston vs Cape

Posted by Fatboy1972 on Fri, Feb 9, 2018, at 6:40 AM:

The Cape Central gym seems to be Sikestons kryptonite. I think tonights game will be like the game at the SEMO Conference tournament but in Capes favor.

  • I am picking the Tigers by 6 tonight in a high energy game with several lead changes throughout the game. Cape hanging on at the free throw line. These are great teams to watch play and one of best match ups in the state tonight!

  • I believe Cape will beat Sikeston, and I would not have said that early in the season. I had a chance to watch Cape and they are very athletic. It's not a forgone conclusion that Sikeston wins their district...

  • I believe that we will win !! but it will be close

Sikeston is automatically down 6-8 points before the tip. The Orange Wall Effect.

  • Sikeston by 15.

  • Agreed, distrixx up for grabs, cant count out Dexter, theyve been on a roll. Game tonite is a tossup, team who wants it more and plays disciplined, tough D should have the edge. Anything goes when factoring in The Wall.

Maaaan I would love to be at this one, almost as much as I would have like to be at the C'Town/Sik game.

    Who's hosting districts this year?

-- Posted by secretagentman on Fri, Feb 9, 2018, at 2:24 PM
  • Dexter will host district.

    -- Posted by SHS59 on Fri, Feb 9, 2018, at 2:39 PM
  • I would be fairly confident in counting out Dexter.

  • With C4 #1,#2, #3 and #5 all on this side of the state I think the C4 state championship gets decided before anyone gets to Springfield.

  • Wow! This is the game of the year so far. Think I am going with The Tigers, but don’t feel great about it. Game will be within 3.

Wish I could be there. Good luck to both teams. Would hate to Ref it.

  • #7 and #9 are also on this side of the bracket.

  • Ya bulldog it hasn’t been this quiet on a Friday night since January 5th... .

    🤷‍♂️

  • Was it quiet when Charleston beat us?? I’m thinking not! Trey couldn’t step on the floor without being called a foul on. Shout out to Payton he did great tonight and well Fred is definitely back to normal. Good job team.

TFA...sometimes fouls are called because players commit them...don’t ya think? 😉

-- Posted by birdfan on Fri, Feb 9, 2018, at 11:16 PM
  • I will give it to ya tfa you guys controlled it from start to finish. Fred looked great. Congrats. See ya in districts

Valid point birdfan. However, for whatever reason some people just attract fouls. Judging by your little picture there, you're a Mizzou fan. Tilmon attracts fouls like crazy. Trey seems to be that way for Sikeston, unfortunately.

    -- Posted by bulldog21forever on Sat, Feb 10, 2018, at 12:27 AM
  • Bird fan yep you’re right and I sure couldn’t see what was going on in the middle but geez.

-- Posted by TFA on Sat, Feb 10, 2018, at 7:33 AM
  • Tilmon plus lazy defense a lot is why he “attracts” fouls. People attract fouls because they commit them regularly.

CalPreps--Oh no trust me, I know he is out of position most of the time and most of the fouls called are actual fouls. However, my point is more of what you said with that second sentence. He develops a reputation for fouling and then will attract other fouls. Really it comes down to just don't foul in the first place.

  • Guess we'll see if Fred can shoot 76 percent from the field next time they play. If he does, it will be the same result versus Cape or anyone else.

    Love,

    Sikeston

  • I agree that he gets some silly careless fouls many games, but last night he got some TOUGH calls. Very tough. Cheap ones. I think one of them was legit, the others were ticky tack.

-- Posted by semohoops on Sat, Feb 10, 2018, at 2:02 PM
  • If you look at some of the pictures on semoball I saw Sikeston big man with some fouls that I didn't think were fouls at the game
