May be old news, but I just saw this on the Chaminade schedule. Already looking forward to it. Chaminade, of course, lost 4 D1 players from last year's team and will be young this season. But they have at least 5 players on this year's squad (including 2 freshmen and a transfer who played on the Canada U16 national team) likely headed to D1 in the next few years. By January they could be playing well.
Also see that Sikeston is hosting Torrence Watson and Whitfield in January and is once again playing in the St. Dominic and Fort Zumwalt North tournaments.

MaxPreps has Chaminade at #2 and Sikeston at #5 in the Missouri preseason basketball Fab 5. Should be a great game to watch and to see where Sikeston stacks up against an elite Class 5A team.

There are no class 5A teams, but there are class 5 teams

Hey UncleGrub we are also hosting Tolton Cath but of course without the Porter Bros. Wouldve loved to have seen them play.

Wow, Sikeston is really stepping up their schedule! @Blytheville, @Chaminade, vs Whitfield, and @Miller Career will all be good games out of conference to help them get ready for postseason play
Does anyone know if Father Tolton will be any good without the Porters there?

Father tolton will be average at best

Tolten will be way down, they lost more than the Porter boys. A few others departed after the Porters moved.

Agreed. Unfortunately the game has lost a good bit of its luster thru unforseen circumstances. Sikestons first game at Blytheville will be a tough challenge, the Chickasaws graduated several from last years team that had us beat til midway thru last qtr but they are very athletic and uptempo. We gotta be ready for that one for sure.

I thought that it came out that the Porter boys were just playing an April fool's joke. I thought they were still at Father Tolton.

Nope lol. They really moved to Washington. And now people in Seattle Washington are upset with the school they moved to for hiting Ex NBA player Brandon Roy (and former Washington player) to coach the horrible team they are now playing for. Spoiler alert: they won't be horrible this year. So a lot of people are mad this really bad school now goes from winning 3 games to being coached my Brandon Roy and having arguably #1 player in the nation and his brother who's going to be a 5 star as well.

And supposedly they got one or two other blue chip transfers in addition to the Porters. So they went from a 3-win type team to 3 or 4 Division I players in less than a year. My how the fortunes can change quickly.
Cirithungol, Blytheville's got them a couple new transfers as well from Cross County, about 6-4 and 6-5. So that will be a very difficult season opener for the Bulldogs.

Man oh man the "business" of high school basketball is amazing.....
-- Posted by IndianPride on Wed, Nov 16, 2016, at 7:33 PM
I personally think it's pathetic. And there are a few teams in our area that are joining the ranks of "recruiting" players. They know who they are and so does everybody else.

semo hoops. Just to be clear, I was being sarcastic...it's definitely amazing but in a very bad way.

I picked up on the sarcasm IndianPride. Just wanted to throw my two cents in on it as well.
I guess there's no such thing as developing your talent and coaching. Now everybody wants to steal somebody else's players. It's a lot easier coaching kids that already know how to play and are talented. I know for a fact that some of our players have been recruited to a certain school. Lost total respect for that school and its program. I won't name names though. They know who they are.

I understand !! And I'm with you!!

Dang I wished another school would of tried to recruit my son last year, maybe he would of played more. 😀

Do you really mean that some SEMO area schools are recruiting players and some area players are moving from one school district to another one with more appealing basketball team???? Appalling new development!!!

Trumps fault

Bush's fault first....now Trump's. Ha!
The Dogs have certainly toughened their schedule (not that it necessarily needed to be) with the additions of some "St. Louis schools." The SEMO Conference is plenty tough...year in and year out.
