  • Your correct UFO. Kelly just couldnt put anything together today. I guess teams will have those days. Hats off to Robert, He threw a good game. Good luck to you guys in districts. Hopefuuly Kelly can turn it around on Saturday.

-- Posted by Play With Heart on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 9:07 AM
  • How much did Householder throw yesterday?

Think they'll bring him back Saturday and have him pitch two games in districts (if they beat Valle) or will they save him for Valle and take two chances without him?

    -- Posted by MU_Tigers on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 9:18 AM
  • I believe Householder was taken out in the 5th. Rams had a good day and Householder was a bit off his usual mark.

Householder is one of the areas top pitchers. He is a left-hander with good movement and control. Any team would love to have him.

Do not know how Kelly will utilize him in districts, but anytime he pitches, Kelly has a good chance to win.

-- Posted by UFO on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 9:33 AM
  • I'm thinking (and hoping) that Kelly will try to win their first round game vs. Woodland without Householder on the mound and save him for Valle. If they are successful Kelly has a chance to get to the district championship game. But, that is a risk and something coaches have to decide this time of year. Kelly beat Woodland during the season 12-2 but Ian pitched that game.

-- Posted by deadred on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 10:05 AM
  • It is my opinion that if Kelly wants the district title (and that is the ultimate goal) he has to pitch twice. Just getting there is nice, but if you want to win it...he HAS to be on the mound against Chaffee. Just my opinion, you can debate it both ways.

    -- Posted by MU_Tigers on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 10:27 AM
  • Yes but (IMO) they don't get past Valle without Householder on the mound which would be their 2nd game which is Monday. District title is always the goal but you can't win it without getting to the championship game. He could throw a few innings in the first game on Saturday then pitch the Valle game Monday and could still throw a few innings in the championship game on Wednesday. I believe a pitcher can throw 10 innings in 3 days.

-- Posted by deadred on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 10:35 AM
  • Notre Dame at Valle today at 5:00

    -- Posted by hb1025 on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 10:50 AM
  • I agree with MU Tigers. I believe Kelly has to pitch Householder twice to win Districts. That means Game 1 and Game 3.

If he pitches game 2, he can not pitch game 3.

-- Posted by UFO on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 11:22 AM
  • seems like woodland and their good freshman pitcher would be a tough game for kelly without householder on the mound. gotta win the first before the second one matters.

    go bama

-- Posted by roll tide roll on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 11:35 AM
  • Always a cat and mouse game trying to figure out pitching, but being a coach myself, the goal for me is to try and get to the final game. Anything can happen when you get to the final.Good luck to everyone in districts, should be a lot of fun.

-- Posted by Play With Heart on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 12:03 PM
  • If Kelly can't beat Woodland without Ian pitching, they sure won't beat Valle without him pitching so, he won't get a chance to pitch 2 games. I'll take getting to the championship game without my #1 on the mound vs. not getting there any day.

-- Posted by deadred on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 1:12 PM
  • Agree 100% deadred.

-- Posted by Play With Heart on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 1:18 PM
  • How deep is Valle when it comes to pitching?

-- Posted by Play With Heart on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 1:26 PM
  • Of course you think that way, you're a Chaffee fan/player/coach. lol. I wouldn't want him on the mound against me either, especially since he already beat us.

    -- Posted by MU_Tigers on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 1:43 PM
  • Actually, as a Chaffee fan I could care less because if we can't beat him then we stand no chance of beating Winklemann from Crystal City who is quite a bit better. I would actually love to face him again this time in the championship game. My opinions are based on what I would do if I were in Kelly's coaches shoes, which fortunately I am not.

-- Posted by deadred on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 2:02 PM
  • How do you know Winkelmann from Crystal City is better than Householder?

In my opinion, Householder is one of the top pitchers in Southeast Missouri.

-- Posted by UFO on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 2:13 PM
  • If Householder played for Oran, who goes to Class 1 State every year, we would be hearing more about him and less about Moore.

-- Posted by UFO on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 2:17 PM
  • Householder is a great lefty but tops out (on his best day) at 80 mph. Winklemann is a 6'3" lefty with nasty stuff and has been clocked in the mid to upper 80s and has signed to play at SEMO. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Ian in a heartbeat on my team and agree that if he played the last 4 years on a team like Oran you'd have heard a lot more about him. But Winklemann on his own can completely dominate a team and has the last 2 years.

-- Posted by deadred on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 2:41 PM
  • Winkleman 87 ks 2bbs

  • Deckerd31-did you play Festus on Tuesday as they had a big comeback win against ND on Monday? Not too often you read about ND losing twice in one week. Now is the time you want to be at your best. I believe P'ville and Dexter may be the sleepers this year as ND surely will throw Heisserer in Game#1 and Game #3, that is if they make it to the championship game.

    -- Posted by sportsfan07 on Wed, May 9, 2012, at 10:22 PM
  • Cooter at South Pemiscot at 4pm.

    -- Posted by CoachMathis44 on Thu, May 10, 2012, at 7:43 AM
  • ND will not throw Heisserer against Doniphan, unless need be. He would pitch in the semi-finals if it were me but ND showed last year they would save him for the championship and use their 2 or 3 in the semi-finals. It is always interesting to see what teams do with their pitching in a Saturday/Monday/Wednesday format. I always say, you have to win one to get to the next. As for Festus, we did play and played a poor defensive game. We hit the ball well and pitched very well. They had a very good lineup and we gave them around 30 outs and that cannot happen against a good hitting team.
