Tanner Murphy from Malden has to be considered one of the areas top hitters as well, kind of scary what he did as a freshman last year

    -- Posted by 6+4+3=2 on Mon, Mar 14, 2011, at 12:25 PM
  • Who's moncada play for?

-- Posted by LeeSummitBooster on Mon, Mar 14, 2011, at 2:32 PM
  • Grantham definitely.

-- Posted by GreatFun on Mon, Mar 14, 2011, at 3:52 PM
  • Senath. Dylan McCormick can swing it.

Joe Campbell from Campbell, no pun intended, can swing it too, very good opposite field hitter. With some suprising pop as well

    -- Posted by 6+4+3=2 on Tue, Mar 15, 2011, at 12:44 PM
  • If your looking for all the tools, Joe Campbell. He's already been mentioned but is one of the best I have seen.

  • All around player..Cory Kovach from Naylor. He can do it all. Catches..Pithces..plays short and is a very good outfielder. To top it all of he's a great hitter.

  • Cooter has some great hitters this year, but you better keep your eye on Anderson and Watkins (when he returns). Gonna be Tuff !

    -- Posted by knockahoma29 on Fri, Mar 18, 2011, at 3:38 PM
  • Watkins has a great swing. He is gonna be big for them when he comes back. Anderson is a big all or nothing hitter but has some great pop when he makes contact. Dylan McCormick has some nice power also.

-- Posted by bleacherking on Fri, Mar 18, 2011, at 8:13 PM
  • In my opinion I think Watkins may be a little timid when swinging the bat the first couple times.

-- Posted by Hornets on Sat, Mar 19, 2011, at 7:50 PM
  • I'm sure he will but as soon as he finds out its ok, he'll be ready. He will need some protection on it, a guard of some sort.

  • I doubt that Zach will be hitting until somewhere about April 5th. That'll give him about 35 days till district, about 10/12 games. He's been throwing 2 to 3 times a week (90 pitches) on Thur. of which 60 were strikes. He had good velocity throwing all 3 of his pitches (curve, splitter, fastball). Working out only as a pitcher seems to have helped his velocity. Playing shortstop day-in-day-out certainly doesn't give you any rest. He will throw some in competition before too long.

FYI-Wildcats J.V. picked up 2 wins over the Green Wave today 10-1 and 7-0. Soph. Pierce Watkins threw the 1st game, Taylor Tolson the 2nd game. Freshman Tolson threw exceptionally well, striking out 6, allowing 2 hits, did not walk a batter in 6 innings. Great day for baseball.

  • Coach will zach be a everyday shortstop when he returns?

-- Posted by Hornets on Sun, Mar 20, 2011, at 4:10 PM
  • He's been taking throws from the catcher while pitching. I think he will be our everyday SS before too long. He was hurt on Feb. 23. Five to six weeks will be coming up pretty soon, then another week or so before we start ground balls or hitting.

  • Garret Stockton from twin rivers can strait up hit... 2 homeruns in his first two at bats.

-- Posted by Hornets on Tue, Mar 22, 2011, at 10:28 PM
  • Harris is def a great hitter.

-- Posted by centraltyga on Tue, Apr 5, 2011, at 8:01 AM
  • Watkins (Cooter), Baker (Sikeston) come to mind, and the Dollins kid (Kennett) is pretty good as well.

  • A player from central there DH Trey Gardner is hitting pretty good i think he has 5 steals not sure he is very fast to. He isnt really a power hitter just contact hitter.

  • I keep seeing the name, Tyler Anderson from Sikeston for hitting homeruns lately. I think I saw an article that says he has 4 in the last 3 games, including a walk-off? I have never seen him play, but rather just going on what I have read in articles about their games.

    -- Posted by sm0723 on Wed, Apr 6, 2011, at 10:32 PM
  • Tyler is the real deal. Good skills on both offense and defense. Just a sophomore. Barring injury you will be hearing about him alot.

    -- Posted by backintown2012 on Thu, Apr 7, 2011, at 7:28 AM
  • Kody Moore from Oran. For a sophomore, he has good pop in the bat also.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Thu, Apr 7, 2011, at 12:07 PM
  • Tyler Anderson will be a top 5 round draft pick out of Sikeston. Write it down

-- Posted by kingjames on Thu, Apr 7, 2011, at 2:59 PM
  • kody moore and jared walker some small school sophmore shortstops can really hit. brett dirnberger and ryan fortner from scott city some sophmore sluggers as well

-- Posted by LeeSummitBooster on Fri, Apr 8, 2011, at 12:24 PM
  • Logan Dollins from Kennett may be the best hitter around. He led the state last year in RBIs as a soph. Adam Grantham is a beast too but he doesnt have as many hits or RBIs as logan. Also Andy Lack is a hitting machine check out maxpreps.com and go to kennett team. Look at the stats and judge for your self

    -- Posted by baller83 on Sat, Apr 9, 2011, at 10:46 PM
  • -Tyler Anderson(Soph.) from Sikeston has some stroke to his swing. This kid is going to be great if he can stay away from arm injuries

    -Tanner Murphy(Soph.) from Malden

    -Kody Moore(Soph.) from Oran

    -Kyle Harris(Jun.) from New Madrid

    -Logan Dollions(Jun.) from Kennett

    -Garrett Stockton(Sen?) from Twin Rivers

Mostly young players but still are in the best of the area

  • How did dollins have more hits if grantham had the highest average at over. 600?

    -- Posted by BB-BORE on Sun, Apr 10, 2011, at 8:12 PM

Keefer has been hitting pretty solid for Sikeston. He's the leadoff hitter and is also second in home runs behind Anderson

    -- Posted by bulldog21forever on Sun, Apr 10, 2011, at 8:20 PM
  • I don't know exactly, but if Grantham drew more walks than Dollins then Dollins could have more hits and a lower batting average because of more total at-bats.

    -- Posted by sm0723 on Mon, Apr 11, 2011, at 8:47 AM
  • grantham missed two games with tough pitchers. He didnt hit .600 he and Dollins went into the last game with exact ave. dollins went 0-4 grantham walked twice and got a hit. That gave him a 30pt higher avg. Dollins had more hits and rbis He also had a better freshman year. go to maxprep.com and compare all the numbers youll be suprised

  • Clearwter has some good sticks in their line-up: Joel Koenig, Logan Morris, Caleb Rowold, Andrew DaMico, they have all been hitting the ball hard this spring.

-- Posted by tooldogging on Mon, Apr 11, 2011, at 1:40 PM
  • I was just going off the conf. Tourney because at that point he had a. 638 average. Guess he went into a little slump.

    -- Posted by BB-BORE on Mon, Apr 11, 2011, at 2:31 PM
  • cody payne from chaffee is a freshman and is starting catching and batting leadoff for chaffee looks pretty good to me
